Description

Firecracker salmon is a great dish for anyone who enjoys spicy food with a touch of sweetness. It’s easy to make and full of flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 salmon fillets
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 bunch green onions
  • 2 tablespoons sriracha, or sambal oelek (chili paste)
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon tomato ketchup
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix 2 tablespoons soy sauce with 2 tablespoons srirache (or sambal), 2 tablespoons vegetable oil, 1 tablespoon tomato ketchup, 1 teaspoon brown sugar, 1 teaspoon ground ginger, and 2 pressed cloves of garlic to make a marinade.
  2. Sprinkle the 4 salmon fillets with paprika first, then coat them all over with the marinade. Place the salmon in a shallow dish, cover, and let it marinate for at least 2 hours or up to overnight.
  3. Heat a large skillet with a generous splash of vegetable oil. Cook the salmon for about 5 minutes on one side, then 2 minutes on the other side.
  4. Serve with sliced green onions and extra sriracha or sambal if you like. Delicious with white rice and stir fried broccoli, roasted broccolini or bok choy, for example.
