Burrata with roasted grapes
Guaranteed to impress
We have something so delicious that we simply can’t keep it to ourselves!
Erik’s sister first introduced us to burrata with roasted grapes, and ever since then, it has become a favorite. It’s full of flavor, incredibly simple to make, and always a hit whenever we serve it. Inspired by a recipe from Ottolenghi, we’ve created our own version that’s just as festive, but with a small twist.
Creamy burrata
Burrata is an Italian cheese that looks a lot like mozzarella at first glance, but once you cut into it, you’ll immediately notice the difference. Inside is a soft, creamy center that gently spills onto the plate. That makes burrata not only beautiful to serve, but also incredibly delicious.
Paired with warm, sweet roasted grapes, the cheese creates a wonderful contrast. Fresh, creamy, and savory all at once. To us, it’s proof that a few simple ingredients can come together to create something truly special.
Grapes from the oven
Most of us know grapes as a healthy snack, but once they’re roasted in the oven, something special happens. The heat makes them even sweeter while reducing some of their moisture, creating a richer and more concentrated flavor.
Red grapes also contain antioxidants such as resveratrol, some of which remain even after roasting. That makes this dish not only delicious, but also nourishing. The aroma of roasted grapes combined with garlic and fennel seeds instantly brings a warm Mediterranean feel to the kitchen.
A subtle anise flavor
The fennel seeds may seem like a small addition, but they make a big difference in this recipe. Lightly crushing them releases their subtle anise flavor, which pairs beautifully with the sweet grapes and creamy burrata.
Fennel seeds have been used in Mediterranean cooking for centuries, both for flavor and as a traditional digestive aid. Combined with sherry vinegar or red wine vinegar and a touch of brown sugar, they create a marinade that makes the grapes irresistible.
Perfect for any occasion
We often serve this burrata with roasted grapes as an appetizer or as part of a charcuterie board. It comes together in no time, yet still looks impressive on the table. Served with a crusty baguette or toasted bread, the creamy burrata and warm grapes are perfect for sharing. Vegetarian, flavorful, and easy to make, it’s exactly the kind of dish that makes a dinner party or gathering feel a little more special.
