Chicken shawarma
With garlic sauce
If you enjoy the flavors of Greek chicken gyro pita or a Turkish dürüm kebab, you’ll definitely like this homemade chicken shawarma pita with garlic sauce.
This recipe is not only very simple, it’s also a lot healthier than the pre-seasoned shawarma meat you’ll find at the grocery store. And yes, we all know those are often packed with preservatives and additives. This homemade version is full of flavor and, more importantly, you can enjoy it without that heavy feeling afterward.
Make your own shawarma
We’ve all been there. You’re craving shawarma, but you don’t always want to grab takeout or order in. Store-bought shawarma meat may seem like an easy option, but it’s often loaded with flavor enhancers and sugar.
By making your own chicken shawarma pita, you know exactly what you’re eating. You choose fresh chicken, real spices, and simple ingredients. It’s an easy way to put a great meal on the table that’s both satisfying and full of flavor.
Garlic sauce
The base of this recipe is boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into pieces and marinated in a mix of spices and olive oil. And what really brings it all together is the garlic sauce. Not something from a jar, but a fresh and creamy homemade version that pairs perfectly with the seasoned chicken. Using fresh ingredients makes all the difference.

Ready in no time
Another big plus is that you can have this meal on the table in under 30 minutes. No need to spend hours in the kitchen. Just marinate the chicken, cook it, and serve it in warm pita bread (or flatbread) with the garlic sauce. It’s that simple!
