Description

Juicy chicken shawarma in warm pita with garlic sauce. A quick and easy dinner that’s ready in under 30 minutes and full of flavor.


Ingredients

  • 15 oz boneless, skinless chicken thighs
  • 4 pitas (or flatbread)
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 2 teaspoons ground coriander
  • 2 teaspoons ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon curry powder
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Instructions

  1. Cut the chicken thighs into bite-sized pieces and place them in a bowl. Add the olive oil and mix well.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the paprika, ground coriander, ground cumin, curry powder, turmeric, nutmeg, cinnamon, and cayenne pepper into a spice blend.
  3. Add the spice mix to the chicken and mix well. If you have time, let it marinate in the fridge for about 30 minutes.
  4. Cook the chicken in a skillet over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally, until cooked through and nicely browned. Serve in the pitas with (homemade) garlic sauce and a fresh salad, if you like.
